The Tower Reviews
Dollarbeg Castle is an extraordinary villa to use as a jumping off point to visit all of central Scotland. It is an easy drive into Edinburgh, over to St.Andrews and up into the Highlands. The town of Dollar has a sufficient grocery store, a great butcher, and one of the best restaurants in the area (Bridge Street Kitchen). We planned this trip with 5 family members for over a year.
The castle apartment is extremely well furnished and professionally done. The pictures don’t do it justice! It is challenging to understand the layout of the apartment from the pictures but two of the bedrooms are basically on the main floor with the living room and kitchen and both bathrooms. On the way up to the rooftop terrace, there is a small media room with awesome surround sound. Up some more steps is the 3rd bedroom and finally the access to the terrace. The view from the terrace is 360 degrees of fantastic Scottish countryside with a clear view across the valley of Castle Campbell.
Dollarbeg is a great combination of old world charm, country living, quiet surroundings with all the modern touches. In addition, most of our whisky tours were within an hour or two. Our favorites that we visited were Glengoyne and Edradour...do NOT miss either of these distilleries.
Overall, this was a perfect vacation and I would highly recommend it to truly experience Scotland!

We stayed in the Tower Apartment at Dollarbeg Castle and it was a wonderful trip, from booking the accommodation to the end of our stay. The apartment is amazing. There are three good-sized bedrooms with very comfy beds - my favourite was the top one which has lovely views over the hills. The living room also has amazing views over the hills and interesting little turrets, one with a gorgeous telescope nestled inside. The sofas are huge and comfortable and there are great views of the hills through the large window. The kitchen is extremely well appointed and is a pleasure to use. We were welcomed with a hamper and a bottle of champagne which was a lovely touch. There is a terrace on the top of the tower with sun beds (great if the weather is warm!) and there are amazing 360 degree views from up there. The nearest town is Dollar which is very pretty and you can park and walk up through the Dollar Glen to Castle Campbell which is a must-see 15th century castle. You can carry on walking up the hills to Kings Seat where you can see right out to the Firth of Forth. We walked in sunshine but to the north were dark clouds and a rainbow - fabulous. We loved our stay here and will be back...
